Vivian Spohr, wife of Lufthansa CEO Carsten Spohr, faces legal issues after accidentally running over a babysitter in Italy, resulting in her death.

Vivian Spohr, wife of German airlines Lufthansa CEO Carsten Spohr, has landed herself in leagl woes after she ran ran over a babysitter during vacation in Italy earlier this week.
According to Associated Press citing local reports, Vivian Spohr crashed her SUV into 24-year-old Gaia Costa in Sardinia’s posh town of Porto Cervo during her vacation.
Vivian Spohr was at the wheel of the SUV when she rammed over Costa while she walking across a pedestrian crossing in Porto Cervo. According to the CCTV footage, before she noticed the SUV approaching her, Gaia attempted to cross the road, and later tried to stop it with a wave of her hand, too. However, the car didn’t stop.
Costa, a native of Tempio Pausania, in the Gallura region of northern Sardinia, was severely injured in the accident. The medical team that arrived at the spot, tried to revive Gaia for 20 minutes but unfortunately, she succumbed to the injuries.
According to a report by local L’Unione Sarda, Vivian underwent alcohol and drug tests, which were negative. Her car is under technical probe.
Vivian went back home to Berlin and is reportedly helping with the inquiry. She has also made herself available to Italian judicial authorities
Vivian Expresses Sorrow Over Accident
Meanwhile, in a statement issued by her Italian lawyer on Friday, the 51-year-old German businesswoman expressed “dismay and deep sorrow for this grave accident, which has devastated a family, the town of Tempio, and the entire community of Gallura.”
The statement added that Vivian placed herself “at the complete disposal of the Italian judicial authorities for the necessary investigations and, while aware that such a great personal loss cannot be repaired, will take steps to mitigate its consequences.”
The investigation will hinge on forensic evidence, witness statements, and potential negligence findings. If charged, Spohr could face extradition proceedings or a trial in absentia.
