US President Donald Trump on Saturday said that even if the courts approve the release of grand jury testimony related to Jeffrey Epstein, “nothing will be good enough for the troublemakers and radical left lunatics.”
Trump made the remarks while confirming that he has asked the US Justice Department to release all grand jury testimony concerning Epstein, but “subject to court approval.”
He posted on his social media platform, Truth Social, “I have asked the Justice Department to release all Grand Jury testimony with respect to Jeffrey Epstein, subject only to Court Approval. With that being said, and even if the Court gave its full and unwavering approval, nothing will be good enough for the troublemakers and radical left lunatics making the request. It will always be more, more, more. MAGA!”
Trump’s comments came a day after the Justice Department had asked federal judges to unseal grand jury testimonies in criminal cases linked to Epstein.
On Friday, Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche filed motions urging the court to release the grand jury transcripts in Epstein’s case, as well as those in the case against convicted British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell. This followed Trump’s direct order to the Justice Department to make the files public.
The Trump administration has faced controversy since the Justice Department announced last week that it would not release any more evidence from Epstein’s investigation.
Trump’s demand came after The Wall Street Journal reported on a sexually suggestive letter, allegedly bearing Trump’s name, included in a 2003 album for Epstein’s 50th birthday. Trump denied writing the letter, calling it “false, malicious, and defamatory.”
The Justice Department said it will work with prosecutors in New York to make necessary redactions to protect victims and sensitive personal information before releasing the transcripts.
Grand jury transcripts, which contain witness testimony and evidence presented by prosecutors, are rarely made public unless required by a court.
Even with the Justice Department’s support, it may take weeks or months of legal proceedings to decide what can be released while safeguarding witnesses and victim details.
