Windows and Office is used by millions and the new security risks are a concern for PC users about which Microsoft has explained in detail.

Microsoft has raised the concerns about these issues being exploited in wild.
Microsoft has issued another worrying alert for its Windows and Office business consumers this month, with the Indian government also notifying people about the concerns with the new risks.
The alert comes via the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team or CERT-In in June 2025 and notifies millions of PC users about the security risks that the new issues pose for their systems and how hackers can manipulate them to extract data and other confidential content from the targeted PCs.
Windows And Office Security Risk: What The Warning Says
The CERT-In note dated June 12, 2025 comes with a high severity warning which is never to be taken lightly. The alert says, “A remote code execution vulnerability (CVE-2025-33053) exists in Web Distributed Authoring and Versioning (WEBDAV) server due to improper validation of a File Name or Path. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by enticing a user to open a malicious crafted file resulting in execution of malicious code on attacker-controlled WebDAV server. Note: The vulnerability is being exploited in the wild.”
If you read through the post, CERT-In is basically warning about internal issues that can be exploited to tempt the victim to share confidential details like passwords and bank numbers. Microsoft is also clearly saying that the issues because of these vulnerabilities might have already been targeted at victims.
The government alert also points out the Microsoft users who are at risk because of the latest issues:
- Microsoft Windows
- Microsoft Office
- Extended Security Updates (ESU) for legacy Microsoft products
- Azure
- Developer Tools
These attacks can become a worry for businesses who can be targeted for ransomware which is always going to be a costly affair for the companies.
Microsoft claims to have figured out the issues and found a way to fix these loopholes that can make it easy for hackers to target systems. We suggest you go to settings, enable auto-update Windows and reboot the system to have the new version installed to keep your PC safe.
